Dr. Sean McNally, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Portland, Oregon, conducted a detailed assessment of pictures and video footage from Martin's performance. While the doctor has never treated Martin personally, he shared his professional opinion about the cosmetic tweaks that might explain the singer's youthful appearance.
"To me it doesn't appear that he's had a major plastic surgery like facelift, neck lift, browlift or blepharoplasty," McNally explained to the Daily Mail. "But I do see two areas of his face that appear to be significantly improved."
Potential Cosmetic Interventions
The first noticeable improvement, according to McNally, is Martin's midface shape and volume. The doctor suggested this could have been achieved through filler injections or possibly fat grafting—a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a patient's own fat to enhance other body parts, creating a plumper, more youthful appearance while repairing scars.
The second improvement the expert identified was Martin's "improved skin tone and texture." McNally suggested there's a "good chance" this results from filler to his midface or jawline, which would help maintain his youthful facial structure.
What Martin Probably Hasn't Done
Interestingly, McNally doesn't believe Martin uses Botox, noting that his facial animation appears "too dynamic" for someone undergoing regular Botox treatments. However, the doctor does think Martin's smooth complexion points to some form of cosmetic intervention, particularly given his age and skin type.
"Given his age and skin type, he would be prone to hyperpigmentation like age spots," McNally pointed out. "He's certainly doing something to combat this."
Possible Skin Treatments
The plastic surgeon suggested Martin's glowing skin likely results from a combination of good skincare and laser treatments. "The most likely culprits would be a skin care regimen that utilizes hydroquinone and lighter resurfacing lasers like Moxi or erbium as they're more appropriate for difficult and reactive skin types," McNally explained.
According to oculofacial plastic surgeon Masha Sohrab, Moxi lasers gently heat the skin's deeper layers without removing surface skin, stimulating collagen production while keeping the epidermis intact. Erbium lasers, an ablative type, fully vaporize the outer skin layer, triggering wound healing and complete skin regeneration.
Ablative lasers are typically better for treating deeper wrinkles, pronounced pigmentation, or textural damage, while Moxi lasers are more suitable for targeting early signs of aging and sun damage.
