Claire Sweeney, the actress and former girlfriend of late boxing legend Ricky Hatton, is facing court charges, according to reports. The 53-year-old Coronation Street star was in a relationship with Hatton last year, which ended amicably. The nature of the charges has not been disclosed.
Hatton, who died at the age of 46, was found at his home in Stockport on Sunday. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances. The former world champion had announced a return to the ring for a fight in Dubai in December, more than a decade after his retirement.
Sweeney and Hatton met while participating in Dancing on Ice and were together for almost 12 months. In a July 2024 interview, Sweeney described Hatton as making her laugh and noted their shared love for Only Fools and Horses. The couple split but remained friends.
Hatton's death has sent shockwaves through the sporting world. He amassed a fortune of around £35 million from his boxing career, including a reported £15 million from his fight against Manny Pacquiao. After retiring, he became a successful trainer and promoter.
