Richard Madeley Denies Hair Dye Claims, Blames Genetics

Richard Madeley has dismissed speculation that he dyes his hair, insisting his changing hair colour is purely genetic. The 70-year-old broadcaster, who celebrated his milestone birthday on 13 May, addressed the 'odd comments' he receives about his youthful appearance.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Madeley said: 'I get very odd comments about my hair, people saying I've dyed it blond - and I haven't. It's genetic. I promise you it's not lemon juice or something you spray on.' He explained that his hair was lighter as a child and has lightened again due to spending time at his holiday home in the south of France.

The former This Morning co-host, now a presenter on Good Morning Britain, attributed his youthful looks partly to his 'active' brother-in-law Cal. He said: 'I definitely think I’m ageing, but I just think it’s slightly less apparent because I’m always on television, so I’m ageing infinitesimally on camera. I’ve been lucky enough to keep my hair, and that’s important to men.'

Madeley also recently revealed that he and his wife Judy Finnigan sleep in separate bedrooms. He explained on Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time podcast that he uses a spare room on days he presents Good Morning Britain, which starts at 6am, to avoid waking Judy. 'I wouldn't think of doing that to Judy. Apart from anything else, Judy and her sleep, you do not mess with,' he said.
