Rebekah Vardy, the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy, is set to star in a new reality series on ITV and ITVX titled 'The Vardys', marking her first major TV project since the high-profile 'Wagatha Christie' libel trial.
The series, produced by Orchard Studios, will follow the couple and their children as they relocate to Italy, where Jamie Vardy now plays for Cremonese after leaving Leicester City. The show aims to capture their new life abroad as they seek a fresh start away from the controversy that engulfed them in the UK.
Rebekah Vardy gained notoriety in 2019 when Coleen Rooney, wife of Wayne Rooney, accused her of leaking stories to the tabloids. Rooney's social media post, which coined the term 'Wagatha Christie', led to a libel case that Vardy lost in 2022, resulting in a substantial legal bill and damaged reputation.
According to ITV, the series will show Vardy 'ready for the next chapter', managing the upheaval of the move while reflecting on past challenges. Louise Major, ITV's commissioning editor, described it as 'a rare and revealing look behind the headlines'.
The show, scheduled for later this year, is executive produced by Dan Grabiner and Nat Lippiett, who promise a 'candid, unfiltered and completely unpredictable' insight into the Vardy family.
