Ranvir Singh shared a rare personal update during the latest edition of ITV's Good Morning Britain, revealing that a newborn baby has joined her family.
The 49-year-old presenter joined co-host Adil Ray on the programme on Thursday, August 27, with Sean Fletcher also appearing. The trio were filling in for regular hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls when they took a moment to celebrate the news after a segment on new fathers campaigning for better parental leave and rights.
Newborn nephew and parental leave
Sean Fletcher chuckled as he said: "My kids are adults now and I know how expensive it is, actually it's still costing me loads of money." Ranvir then chimed in: "We've just had a newborn baby in our family in the last few days, and my nephew, little Avir, he's very, very cute, and his dad saved up every single day of annual leave this year, just so he can be at home," reports the Mirror.
Ranvir continued: "It is really difficult to manage," while Adil interjected to extend his congratulations to his co-host. Wrapping up the segment, Ranvir said: "Thank you so much Sean, if you've got any thoughts on that, let us know."
Private life and single motherhood
Ranvir, who is a single mother to her son Tushaan, born in 2012, generally prefers to keep her private life under wraps. In 2024, Ranvir gave a rare insight into her personal life and revealed she had been a single mum since he was born, having split from her child's father while she was pregnant.
She said on the White Wine Question Time with Kate Thornton podcast: "I have actually been a single mum since I was 7 months pregnant. I've kept that so quiet but I am okay to talk about it now." Now I'm at a point in my life where I think that I'm learning to embrace my whole life and to not compartmentalise it as much, to keep everything separate.
"And that's a me thing. I'm happy to correct it today. Obviously my friends and family have known. It shows you can keep private whatever you choose to!"
As per The Mirror, she continued: "I feel like I am beginning to mesh my life together and part of that is being able to say 'yes, I was single since I was seven months pregnant. I need to own it. I need to say, it's not shameful, it's not something to hide, this is me."
Juggling career and parenting
She went on to talk about juggling her career and being a parent, joking she's "on a unicycle blindfolded juggling fire". She also praised her son, saying he is becoming "the kind of young man that I was afraid I couldn't achieve on my own".
She continued: "But when I see him being polite with other people's parents when he goes to their house and I go 'how was he?' and they go 'perfect, lovely boy, loved having him over', my heart just goes boom. I feel a massive sense of achievement he is a good boy when he goes to other people's houses, he knows how to behave."
