Countdown presenter Rachel Riley has revealed that she and husband Pasha Kovalev have not considered renewing their wedding vows, partly because of their two young children and the fear that her mother would be displeased if they returned to Las Vegas for a second ceremony.
No Plans for Vow Renewal
Rachel, 40, and Pasha, 46, married in Las Vegas in 2019 with only two guests. Asked by Heat magazine if they planned to renew their vows, she said: “We haven’t thought about it, plus we’ve got the kids now. We only had two guests at our actual wedding, and I think if we were going to do it again, and we went to Vegas again, my mum would actually kill me! I’m Jewish, so a church wedding isn’t on the cards.”
Children Discover Parents' Fame
The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing, have two children: Maven and Noa. Rachel shared that their children are now aware of their parents' fame through school friends. “They kind of know now, only because they’re at school, so some of their friends have informed them. I’ve done STEM week and Pasha’s about to go in and do dance week,” she said. She added that it’s nice to give back and that teaching kids to dance is more glamorous than ‘doing mans’.
Managing Busy Schedules
Appearing on Russell Howard’s Five Brilliant Things podcast, Rachel discussed how she and Pasha manage their demanding careers. “So, as soon as he wasn't working, we kind of regrouped and we kept our relationship going by travelling in between the heavy workload,” she explained. After discovering “hidden health surprises” through assessments, the couple decided to increase their activity levels, including taking up squash.
Relationship as a Foundation for Success
On the ActionCOACH Business Growth podcast in 2024, Rachel credited her relationship for her success. She said: “Success for me means contentment and I've got a contentment. Even through really hard times, and terrible external stuff going on, I've got my solid unit and I can take on the world and do whatever outside of that.”
