Queen Camilla showcased her sharp wit at Royal Ascot this week, leaving fans in stitches with a hilarious three-word remark. The Queen attended both Day One and Day Two of the annual racing event in Berkshire, accompanied by King Charles.
On Tuesday, the first day, the King and Queen were welcomed to Ascot with loud cheers from the crowds. They entered the parade ring ahead of the royal procession, and Camilla's humor was highlighted when the couple chatted with onlookers who had gathered to see them while their carriage waited for the procession to begin.
In a video circulating online, King Charles asked the crowd: "Have you been there for hours?" A person replied: "Yes, and it was worth it." Another added: "We have plenty of wine, though," to which the Queen quipped: "That's the answer!" The crowd erupted in laughter.
Royal Ascot Racing Results
On Tuesday, the King and Queen saw their racing dreams dashed when their horse Reaching High was well beaten in the Ascot Stakes. 25-1 shot Kizlyar emerged victorious as thousands of racegoers cheered on their horses. Charles and Camilla watched from the royal box.
Among the celebrity racegoers were Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and her husband Christian Horner, TV chef Mary Berry, West End musical impresario Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, and American singer Vanessa Williams.
Second Day at Ascot
On Wednesday, the King and Queen were joined by various royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales. However, their hope for a second Royal Ascot win ended when their horse Point of Law finished outside the top three in the Queen's Vase.
Charles and Camilla have taken on the late Queen's stable of horses and have become enthusiastic and passionate race horse owners. They enjoyed their first Royal Ascot win in 2023 when their thoroughbred Desert Hero won the King George V Stakes.
