Emma Raducanu cruises into Nottingham quarter-finals after split with billionaire boyfriend

Emma Raducanu secured a dominant 6-2 6-2 victory over Daria Snigur at the Nottingham Open on Thursday, just days after ending her relationship with billionaire boyfriend Carlo Agostinelli. The win marks the British tennis star's first appearance in the quarter-finals of a WTA Tour grass-court event ahead of Wimbledon 2024.

Despite the straightforward scoreline, Raducanu described the match as 'extremely tricky', acknowledging Snigur's quality as a grass-court player. 'I knew from before I came on I needed to be on it today because Daria is a really good player,' she said. 'I played with her in the juniors growing up so I know just how tricky she can be.'

Raducanu's relationship with Agostinelli, who she had been dating since May last year, reportedly 'ran its course', and she has since unfollowed him on social media. The 21-year-old has been focusing on the grass season after skipping the French Open following a disappointing defeat in Madrid.

The former US Open champion will next face either compatriot Francesca Jones or American Ashlyn Krueger. Raducanu is aiming for a deep run at Wimbledon, which begins on 1 July, after missing the 2023 tournament due to injury. She has shown signs of form this season, including a four-match winning streak in April that featured victories over world No.49 Diane Parry and world No.23 Caroline Garcia.
