Princess Anne reportedly believes the ongoing rift between Prince William and Prince Harry needs to be resolved, according to an unnamed source. The insider told the National Examiner that the Princess Royal, 76, feels all parties involved in the dispute should shoulder responsibility for it.
The source claimed Anne's stance is that they need to be reined in and issued a stern eight-word warning: "This nonsense has gone on far too long."
Anne's Role in Reconciliation
It's also suggested that King Charles's sister is prepared to assist William and Harry in reconciling their differences. Anne allegedly believes the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex should cherish every moment they have with their father, who continues to receive treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
The King's sister is reportedly more content with Harry, who is said to be more receptive to "fixing things" than William, the source alleged. During their UK visit in July, Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, brought their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to meet the King for the first time in four years at his Highgrove residence, reports the Express.
Warming Relations and Ongoing Tensions
The meeting between Charles and the Sussexes has been widely interpreted as a sign of a warming in relations between the King and Harry. However, some royal commentators continue to suggest the relationship between William and Harry remains tense, while others argue the Prince of Wales's attention is directed elsewhere.
Their supposed rift has reportedly been intermittent since 2018. William was purportedly concerned by the rapid progression of Harry and Meghan's relationship.
Brothers' Past and Future
In 2019, Harry told ITV that "stuff happens", the brothers will always be brothers and while they were on "different paths" he would "always be there" for William. Despite their differences, the royal siblings have managed to set them aside at times, including at the late Queen's funeral and outside the gates of Windsor Castle following Elizabeth II's passing.
Speculation about Princess Anne's views on the situation arises amidst additional reports suggesting Meghan believes Harry shouldn't be the sole one to apologise in order to mend fences.
