Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has shared his honest view of Prince Harry after meeting the Duke of Sussex several times. The pair are thought to have first crossed paths when the youngest son of King Charles reportedly attended one of the band’s gigs.
“I’ve met him a few times and I’ve always really like him,” Ricky told Hello! Magazine. However, he admitted he can’t quite tell whether Harry’s laid-back image is genuine.
Questioning the down-to-earth image
“I don’t know whether he’s pretending to be down to earth or he is down to earth,” he said, before joking that he’s putting on an act of his own. “I’m pretending to be a rock star. God knows in this household I’m not,” he added.
Previously speaking to Reach PLC, he shared details about an encounter with Harry and a visit to Buckingham Palace. He claimed he asked the royal for a selfie and while he obliged, it came with a request.

“As he was leaving he said, ‘Don’t put that anywhere’,” Ricky claimed, joking: “I’m not going to risk my MBE by putting up a picture.”
He went on to say he didn't like the picture anyway as he looked "far too happy to be there". The singer also described feeling “in awe” during his time around the Royal Family, saying he found them “great” and that even committed royal critics tend to be on their best behaviour in the room.
“It’s like a default setting,” he said. “You start bowing and curtsying, and you don’t even know why.”
Another singer's encounter
Ricky isn't the only singer to open up about meeting Harry recently. Former Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas claimed he broke royal protocol by sharing a hug with her at David Foster’s charity gala in Canada last weekend.
After wowing guests with her rendition of Tomorrow from Annie and Frank Sinatra’s My Way, she said Harry was among those who greeted her after her performance.
“When I was on stage, I joked about meeting his dad before adding, ‘Sorry he couldn’t make it. He sent me instead’. Oh my god - I say such silly things when I’m nervous, but Harry started laughing.”
“When I got down off stage he just came forward and gave me a big cuddle," she recalled. “And he went, ‘Sydnie, I felt every word. I really felt that in the back of my throat’.”
She added to The Sun: “He just went in for the hug and I was like, ‘Why not?’.”
This comes after reports claimed Harry and Meghan met with the King and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire last month, amid wider speculation about whether the couple want to rebuild ties in the UK. The couple currently live in America with their two young children Archie and Lilibet.
