Prince Harry is currently on a solo trip in the UK, arriving on Monday for a week-long visit to attend engagements for the Invictus Games. The 41-year-old royal traveled alone, while his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were initially expected to join him. However, Meghan and the children did not make the trip due to ongoing safety concerns in the UK, after Harry's request for taxpayer-funded security was denied.
King Charles Eager to See Grandchildren
It has been previously reported that King Charles is eager to build a close bond with his two youngest grandchildren, having not seen Archie and Lilibet since 2022. The 77-year-old monarch shares a close relationship with his three eldest grandchildren—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and eight-year-old Prince Louis—but has been largely absent from the lives of Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.
According to sources cited by the Mirror, there have been conversations between King Charles and Harry in recent weeks, with one source describing the tone as "hopeful" for a meeting with the Sussexes. Another source said: "The King would not pass up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and if there is a way of making it possible, he will do it."
Harry's Efforts to Bring Family
Harry is said to be "frantically" trying to secure extra private security so his wife and children can join him in the UK. It was previously reported that Archie and Lilibet were excited to visit their father in the UK this week. However, fresh reports claim Meghan is "furious" and has "vowed to never return to the UK to see the Royal Family" following complications surrounding Harry's visit.
Rob Shuter, writing on his Naughty But Nice Substack, said: "This was one insult too many." He added: "As far as she's concerned, she'll never see them again. She believes every time he reaches out to his family, they find another way to reject him. She's done. She has no interest in ever putting herself, or her children, through this again."
