The new trailer for MobLand series two shows Pierce Brosnan going “completely bonkers berserk”, facing death threats, and his mafia family confronted with “war”. The award-winning actor stars in the Paramount+ crime series as Conrad Harrigan, the head of a powerful mob family in a high-stakes battle to “run north London”.
Trailer reveals family in 'death spiral'
In the explosive trailer released by Paramount+ on Thursday, the formidable patriarch appears driven to insanity as his criminal empire faces its latest threats. Tom Hardy reprises his role as Harry Da Souza, the “fixer” called upon to make problems disappear when things go awry for the Harrigans.
“May I speak plainly? This family is in a death spiral,” Da Souza says, sitting before Conrad Harrigan and his mobster wife Maeve, played by Dame Helen Mirren. Hardy continues as packages of drugs, gunfire, and scenes of violence flash in rapid succession, with the Harrigan clan at the centre of the action.
'The war' begins
Da Souza warns: “Conrad, the Harrigans run north London, and my job is to prevent that from changing. We’ve lost fentanyl. Now heroin. We are surrounded by sharks, ripe for the picking. If you ask me, it’s already begun.” Conrad, wearing a robe by a flickering fireplace, asks what Da Souza means, to which he responds: “The war.”
The trailer, set to Foggy Dew by The Young Dubliners, includes scenes of theft, break-ins, and an exploding house as Dame Helen’s character says: “The clock is ticking.” Da Souza is then seen with his wife Jan, played by Joanne Froggatt, who tells him: “You spent all your life fixing for that family. You’re not the remedy.”
Loyalty shifts and rising threats
The trailer escalates as a voice says “Conrad went completely bonkers berserk” over clips of the mobster brandishing a gun, shouting, screaming, and acting erratically. Da Souza also mentions international cartel boss Kat McAllister is “going to eat us piece by piece”, and the black sheep of the Harrigan family is shown in a secret meeting with her.
Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon) displays a change in loyalty, telling McAllister: “It’s time for change.” A voice says “I want Conrad dead” amid clips of violence, gunshots, and confrontations – and Brosnan’s character exclaims: “You want a war? I’ll give you a war!”
Premiere date and cast
The trailer climaxes with gunshots, flashing police lights, and explosions, with a glimpse of Dame Helen drinking a martini among the violence, and text reading: “Let chaos reign.” It ends as Brosnan’s character exclaims: “We are the Harrigans!” “Don’t know the name? Then Google us,” he adds, with his laughing mobster wife after the couple seemingly shot up an establishment.
The upcoming series will consist of 10 episodes, showing the Harrigan family struggling to present a united front against rising rivals, with “fixer” Da Souza at the centre of the drama. Award-winning filmmaker Guy Ritchie is among the executive producers. The cast also includes Paddy Considine, Jasmine Jobson, Anson Boon, Lara Pulver, and Toby Jones. MobLand series two will premiere globally on Paramount+ on September 18.
