Comedian Peter Kay gatecrashed a live BBC weather report on Wednesday, appearing on screen while BBC North West Tonight's Molly Brewer was presenting her forecast.
Kay, 53, walked in front of the camera as Brewer told viewers about a yellow weather warning in force for the following day. The Phoenix Nights star, who had been a guest on the programme, then sat on the floor and said: "Go on Molly, I'll sit here, I'll not disturb you."
Brewer keeps composure during interruption
Brewer tried to contain her laughter as she continued with her report. She gave Kay her clicker, and he changed the graphics on the screen before the end of the report.
With rain forecast for the coming days, the comedian advised viewers to "get your central heating on now".
Not the first weather report interruption
This is not the first time Kay has interrupted a weather report. He crawled on screen while the late Dianne Oxberry was presenting the forecast for BBC North West Tonight in 2011. Oxberry joked at the time she would "come to one of your concerts and come on stage and just creep in alongside you".
Kay has spent the last four years on a record-breaking arena tour, which is due to end in November at Blackpool's Opera House. All proceeds from his 2026 shows will be donated to 12 cancer charities, including Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, and Ovarian Cancer Action.
The Bolton-born comedian kicked off his national tour in December 2022 in Manchester, marking the end of a 12-year break from touring and setting the record for the only comedian in the world to have performed a monthly residency at London's O2 arena.
