Comedian Peter Kay has once again disrupted a BBC weather broadcast, leaving presenter Molly Brewer struggling to contain her laughter during a live forecast on BBC North West Tonight.
As Brewer began to report on a yellow thunderstorm warning in place for the following night, Kay, known for his roles in Phoenix Nights and Car Share, crept onto the set and played on the green screen. He lay on the floor and rolled around while Brewer attempted to continue with the news.
Second interruption in 15 years
This was not the first time Kay has interrupted a weather report. In 2011, he similarly disrupted the late Dianne Oxberry's forecast on the same programme. After discussing his sold-out comedy shows, Kay crawled onto Oxberry's screen in an attempt to put her off.
Oxberry, who died in 2019 at the age of 51 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, joked at the time that she would copy his behaviour and 'come to one of your concerts and come on stage and just creep in alongside you'.
Presenter and fans react
Discussing the interruption, Brewer wrote on social media that she 'definitely didn't deal with this as well as Dianne, that's for sure'.
Responding to the clip on Instagram, users described the moment as 'iconic' and praised Brewer's handling of the situation. One user, Sarah, commented: 'This is epic! Well done @moll_brewer, absolutely amazing double act.' Jade added: 'The crossover we never knew we needed.' James wrote: 'This is absolutely incredible,' while Jane said: 'Aw @moll_brewer I felt for you but you did brilliantly👏'
