Reality television personality Pete Wicks has revealed he suffered a frightening accident at home on Christmas Day, which left him knocked out and forced to remain indoors for a week.
A Terrifying Christmas Day Incident
The former The Only Way Is Essex star recounted the scary event on his Staying Relevant podcast with co-host and friend Sam Thompson. Wicks explained that he fell and smashed his head on a coffee table, rendering him unconscious.
"I smashed my head on the coffee table, no it gets worse," Wicks told Thompson during the recording. He described waking up to find his dog, Eric, licking his face. The situation was compounded by lit candles on the table, which caused a significant wax burn to his eye area.
Injuries and Recovery
The accident left the TV star with serious injuries. "I had taken the skin off all my eyelid and under my eye," he disclosed. The combination of the impact and the burn resulted in his face becoming "quite swollen and pink."
As a direct result of his injuries, Pete Wicks was confined to his house from Christmas Day until New Year's Eve, missing the usual festive social engagements while he recovered.
Sam Thompson's Health Update
During the same podcast episode, Sam Thompson shared news of his own impending health issue. The presenter revealed he has a cyst on his vocal cords and is scheduled for surgery to have it removed.
"I'm having that taken out, which is going to be mad because it means I have three days of vocal rest," Thompson stated. According to NHS information, such nodules are non-malignant swellings that form on the edges of the vocal cords, often from overuse.
Thompson also took the opportunity to address speculation about his relationship with DJ and model Talitha Balinska. After a cryptic social media post sparked rumours of a split, he later shared a selfie with Balinska on Instagram Stories, adding a heart emoji to confirm they are still together. The couple, who went public in 2025, spent their first Christmas together with Sam's family.
