Perrie Edwards has shared her "heartbreak" following the tragic death of her 14-year-old dog Hatchi. The Little Mix star, 33, adopted the Pomeranian dog in November 2012 with her then-fiancé, One Direction singer Zayn Malik.
In a sad post shared to Instagram on Wednesday (19 August), Edwards shared that "my Hatchi" had passed away. She shared a series of photos of the dog alone, as well as posing with Edwards and Axel, her four-year-old son with husband Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Edwards' tribute to her 'fur baby'
"14 years with you, and somehow it still could never have been enough," she wrote. "You weren't just my dog. You were my fur baby, my little shadow, my companion and one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given."
"You were there beside me through every chapter and every milestone of my life. Through the happiest moments and the hardest ones. You licked away my tears when I cried, made me laugh when I needed it most, and every morning you would look at me with that little smile that made me feel like I was your whole world. And you were such a huge part of mine."
Explaining that Hatchi had come on tour with her and Little Mix and been on holidays with her family, Edwards continued: "You gave me 14 years of unconditional love, loyalty and memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
"My heart is completely broken knowing I won't see your little face in the morning, hear your footsteps, cuddle you or have you following me around anymore. The house and my heart already feel emptier without you."
Support from friends and bandmates
Edwards' fans and famous friends were quick to offer her support, with her Little Mix bandmate Jade Thirlwall commenting: "Oh Hatchi." "So sorry my love, he was such a special dog," wrote Danielle Peazer.
Edwards lived with Hatchi at her £3.5 million Cheshire mansion, where she raises her family with footballer husband Oxlade-Chamberlain. The couple, who have been together since 2017 and welcomed their second child, a daughter called Alanis, tied the knot in June at an intimate wedding in Faro, Portugal attended by Pinnock and her other former bandmate Leigh Anne Pinnock.
Edwards described the event as "the best day of my life – up there with the births of my children", and said her dress "couldn't have been more perfect".
