Perez Hilton has reportedly been asking his friends and family if his celebrity pals have been reaching out to him since he was hospitalised, and they have been lying in response knowing he'd be "crushed" by the truth.
Hospitalisation After Livestream
The celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, was hospitalised earlier this month after appearing to self-harm on a 30 minute TikTok livestream and sustaining "significant blood loss". Police entered his home and swiftly took the star to hospital following the livestream.
The 48-year-old was confirmed to be in a "serious but stable condition" but has remained in hospital in Florida. Since arriving in hospital two weeks ago, Perez has reportedly been asking if any of his A-list pals have been reaching out to him - but they have not.
Family and Friends' Response
"We don't even know how to break this news to him, he'll be crushed," a family friend reported to the MailOnline. "It's sad really, how little people are rallying behind him. People who have told him they love him, but where are they?"
The source added that this includes all of the celebrities that Perez believed he had '"mended fences with". "All the ones he wanted to reach out, all the celebrities who he has mended fences with, all the ones who said he's their friend. None of them are doing anything," the source continued. "He's about to find out who his real friends are."
Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Adele received his support as rising stars, and Perez recently made up with Khloe Kardashian and Britney Spears, after years of the blogger mocking their appearances. Perez had also supported Amanda Bynes through her public issues and she frequently reposted his supportive pieces on her social media. He is also the godfather of reality star-turned-politician Spencer Pratt's son Gunner.
Recovery and Legal Matters
After he was hospitalised, his family released a statement that read: "Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family's focus right now is on his well-being. We kindly ask that you respect Perez's privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can." It concluded: "Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support."
Sharing an update the family revealed that it looks like his recovery will be a "long process" for the star and he required surgery for his injuries. "Perez's condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days," the statement read. "His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday."
"His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements." Perez has continued to stay in in-patient treatment under Florida's Baker Act and a week ago his mother Teresita Lavandeira, has filed for temporary legal custody of his three children, who he parents solo after they were born via surrogate.
