Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision in the first trailer for the Marvel series VisionQuest, the third instalment in a trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021.
Bettany's Marvel history
The 55-year-old English actor previously played the character in Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and also voiced the character's AI form, Jarvis, in Age Of Ultron, Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010) and Iron Man 3 (2013).
The new series follows WandaVision (2021) and Agatha All Along (2024), both of which featured Bettany as Vision.
Trailer reveals new details
The trailer, released at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, shows Vision working in a pub and reveals he has a son. James Spader also reprises his role as Ultron in the series.
In the clip, Vision says: "Who am I? I was an Avenger, but I’m not a hero anymore, I have his face but not his virtue, all I have is his name."
Bettany on playing Vision
Speaking at the event, Bettany said: "It’s been an enormous joy playing the Vision as he’s evolved over the years, he’s been an Avenger, a father, a partner to Wanda, and he’s helped turned the tide in some fairly enormous battles."
He added: "He made the ultimate sacrifice and rather inconveniently died several times, which I can tell you is an act that can make long-term financial planning difficult. But I am told that in the Marvel Universe, no-one is ever really dead — unless Kevin (Fiege, Marvel Studios president) says they’re dead, and even then, I wouldn’t really trust him anyway."
VisionQuest will launch on Disney+ on October 14.
