Patsy Kensit: I’m a homebody and health freak who runs with son Lennon on Hampstead Heath

Actress Patsy Kensit, 46, has opened up about her grounded family life in London, where she lives with her two sons, James, 22, and Lennon, 15. Known for roles in films such as The Great Gatsby and Absolute Beginners, as well as television stints in Emmerdale and Holby City, Kensit began her career at the age of four in a Birds Eye frozen peas advert.

Describing herself as “a real homebody”, Kensit said she forces herself to socialise twice a week, often enjoying a drink with her close friend Sally before returning home to put on her pyjamas and go to bed by 10pm. When not going out, she prefers staying in to cook for Lennon and watch movies with her sons.

The actress also revealed her health-conscious side: “I’m a health freak and take loads of vitamins.” On Saturday mornings, she goes for an hour-long run up to Hampstead Heath with Lennon after drinking a whey protein shake. Saturday evenings are typically spent at home watching a documentary.

Her weekend routine continues with a big Sunday breakfast, another run, and a roast dinner for the boys. The family often visits her stepdaughter Yasmin, whose mother is Chrissie Hynde. Kensit, who has known the Pretenders frontwoman for 30 years, admitted she still wants to ask for her autograph. Hynde has been teaching Lennon guitar, and the pair often play together.

Kensit, who is developing a skincare range, said she is focusing on being a hands-on mother at the moment: “I love acting but my kids are growing up so fast that I’m concentrating on being a hands on mum.”
