Ozzy Osbourne Wants Unknown Actor for Biopic, Reveals Candid Views

Ozzy Osbourne has stated he prefers an unknown actor to portray him in the upcoming biopic about his life with wife Sharon. The film, announced in 2020 and officially confirmed in October 2022, will focus on their relationship from 1979 to 1996.

Oscar nominee Lee Hall, known for 'Rocketman' and 'Billy Elliot', is writing the script, while the Osbournes' eldest daughter Aimée prepared the treatment. In an interview with Consequence, Ozzy said: 'I don't want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown.'

Sharon previously described the film as 'a lot more real' than 'Bohemian Rhapsody', adding: 'We don't want it to be squeaky, shiny clean... It's an adult movie for adults.' The biopic will cover Ozzy's drug and alcohol addiction, violent episodes, and darker moments, but Ozzy expressed no concerns, saying: 'I don't give a shit... as long as it's not too slurpy and bullshit-y.'

In 2019, Jack Kilmer and Jessica Barden portrayed the couple in the video for 'Under The Graveyard', directed by Jonas Akerlund. Ozzy noted it was hard to watch as it brought back dark times, but credited Sharon for her support.

Meanwhile, the Osbournes are set to document their move back to the UK for a new BBC reality series, though Ozzy admitted second thoughts: 'If I had my way, I'd stay in America. I'm American now.' Ozzy released his 13th solo album 'Patient Number 9' in September and remains determined to tour despite health issues.
