North West, 13, shuns 'bad stuff' for blue hair and piercings
North West, 13, wants blue hair and piercings, not 'bad stuff'

Kim Kardashian's 13-year-old daughter North West has said she isn't into 'bad stuff' and just wants to have piercings and work a regular job. The eldest child of Kanye West and the reality TV star made the comments in her first magazine cover interview for Dazed Magazine, where she also discussed her debut EP, N0rth4evr, released in May.

Defending her trademark look

In the interview, North spoke about what has become her trademark look, having been photographed with blue hair, a mix of real and fake piercings and Rick Owens Geobasket shoes. “Everyone’s in love with boys, vaping and doing all kinds of bad stuff,” she said in defence of her own style. “All I want is blue hair and piercings.”

She added that she was inspired by the character and musical artist Hatsune Miku, and felt like her “full self” when decorated with piercings: “They just make you your full self. I really want to get my bridge pierced, but I’m not allowed.”

Future plans and debut EP

Elsewhere, the star revealed that if she weren't an artist, she'd like to be selling pumpkin spice lattes at one of the biggest coffee chain shops. “What would I be? I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess,” she confessed.

Her EP, which features six songs and is 11 minutes and 23 seconds long, was released on May 1 2026 and deals with the teenager’s perspective on being a celebrity child. Lyrics on the title track include: “Everywhere I go, feelin’ like the wrong way / I can’t even act my age.” She also adds: “I ain’t trustin’ no one, they all shady.”

Advice and family background

She added that the worst piece of advice she's received to date is to hold off on starting her career when she's older: “It’s like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life.”

North is Kanye and Kim's eldest child and was born in June 2013 while her parents were dating. The couple later tied the knot in May 2024 after a lavish proposal at San Francisco's AT&T Park which included fireworks, an orchestra, and a 15 carat diamond ring. They also have three other children together – Saint, 10; Chicago, eight; and Psalm, seven. The couple divorced in 2022, with Kanye now married to Bianca Censori and Kim in a relationship with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton.
