Netflix's latest crime drama, The Bombing of Pan Am 103, is a retelling of the harrowing Lockerbie disaster from 1988. The six-part series, which originally aired on the BBC, boasts a star-studded cast exploring the joint endeavours of UK and US police forces and intelligence services in their hunt for those responsible for the bombing.
On December 21, 1988, the Boeing 747 was destroyed by a bomb while flying over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing all passengers and 16 crew aboard. Large sections of the plane crashed in a street in Lockerbie, killing 11 residents. The event became recognised as the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the UK.
DS Ed McCusker - Connor Swindells
Scottish police detective Ed McCusker, who was on the scene at Lockerbie on the night of the tragedy, is based on a real-life figure. In the Netflix series, he is played by Sex Education and SAS Rogue Heroes star Connor Swindells. The 29-year-old actor's latest credits include The Dream Lands, an upcoming British drama series.
FBI Special Agent Dick Marquise - Patrick J Adams
Patrick J. Adams joins the cast as FBI representative Dick Marquise. The 44-year-old Canadian-American actor is best known for playing Mike Ross in Suits. In 2020, he played legendary astronaut John Glenn in the Disney+ series The Right Stuff, and most recently starred in Paramount+'s Taylor Sheridan hit, The Madison.
DCS John Orr - Peter Mullan
The real-life senior police officer is played by Peter Mullan, a 66-year-old Scottish actor and filmmaker. On TV, he is known for his roles in the TV Red Riding film series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
Tom Thurman - Eddie Marsan
Tom Thurman is played by Eddie Marsan, a 58-year-old English actor best known for his role as Terry Donovan in Showtime's drama series Ray Donovan. He most recently played King Edward in the series King & Conqueror and Geoff Young in the Netflix film Heartstopper Forever.
June McCusker - Lauren Lyle
Lauren Lyle is a Scottish actress best known for playing Marsali MacKimmie Fraser in the series Outlander. Since 2022, she has played the award-winning lead role in the ITV crime thriller Karen Pirie. Viewers may also recognise her as Mia in the BBC Scotland series, The Ridge.
