Myleene Klass has defended herself after being trolled for recreating her iconic white bikini shower scene from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 17 years on. The 45-year-old former Hear'Say singer appeared on the current series of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, where she donned a similar white bikini to shower in the jungle, sparking criticism from some viewers.
One troll accused her of 'stripping down to a bikini to win the show', writing: 'You’re an intelligent bright girl but so disappointing that you feel that you have to strip down to your bikini to win the show! You really are so much better than that. Such a shame Mylene.' Klass hit back on social media, stating: 'Intelligent bright girls know they can't shower in a boiler suit.' She added: 'You can win trials, play a piano, raise a family and wear a bikini. They're not mutually exclusive. Women should feel unapologetic of who they are and fearless in the body they're in. Wear what you want to wear, live how you want to live.... and let your sisters do the same.'
The original white bikini moment in 2006 turned Klass into a household name after she was seen showering in the tiny triangle swimsuit. She later auctioned the bikini for £7,500. Speaking about the recreation, Klass said in the Bush Telegraph: 'I'm a huge fan of a white bikini and I get one every season and make sure I rock a white bikini because I owe this white bikini a lot.' She revealed the original bikini was a last-minute purchase for $40 after producers told her her patterned swimsuits might cause a strobe effect on camera.
Since her first I'm A Celeb appearance, Klass has built a successful career as a radio host, TV presenter, author, model and fashion designer. She encouraged other women to embrace similar opportunities, saying: 'I’d say to any girl, ‘Go into the jungle’. It worked for me.'
