Mum's £5k Renovation Transforms Home into Barbie Dreamhouse for Three Daughters
Mum Spends £5k Turning Home into Barbie Dreamhouse for Daughters

A mother has invested £5,000 to turn her home into a 'Barbie Dreamhouse' for her three young daughters. Nicole Watt, 27, has adorned the exterior of her property with a Barbie-themed mannequin, a palm tree, a dressing table, and a surfboard.

Six Months of Planning

Nicole spent six months planning the doll's palace. Her house in Carluke, Scotland, now features a pink disco ball, flamingos, and beach toys. She was inspired by her daughters: Ariah, eight, and twins Aryn and Ayda, both five, who all love Barbie.

Most of the doll's house was constructed from wood, pink paint, and upcycled materials. Nicole estimates she spent a total of £5,000 to create a Barbie paradise for her children.

Local Attraction

The home has become a local and online attraction, with dozens of people visiting to take pictures. Nicole said: "Their papa and gran made the house, the surfboards, pantries, lampposts and palm trees - everything Barbie requires. Twins are hard because they don't like the same stuff apart from Barbies, so we decided on a Barbie Dreamhouse."

She added: "They love Barbies, I've got an older wee girl, and she absolutely loves them, so this is like a dream. They don't want it to go down - they think they can invite their friends over and stay there."

Construction and Dismantling

The Barbie Dreamhouse was created as part of the Carluke and District Gala Day. The house was built in three stages, requiring scaffolding to erect it. Outside, there is also a jewellery board, a disco ball, flamingos, and beach balls. However, the Barbie house is set to be taken down soon, as Nicole awaits scaffolding for its removal. She said: "I can't see out of my windows because of the backdrop. It's already been up for a week."

Viral Sensation

The house went viral on TikTok, attracting visitors from far and wide. Nicole said: "There's been people travelling from all over to see it. I went out yesterday, and there was a randomer in my garden taking pictures - they think it's amazing."

Locals have praised the family's efforts on social media. One said: "This has been a lovely effort for her girls and the neighbourhood. Surely she doesn't have to take it down yet. Its so bright and cheerful." Another commented: "This is bloody brilliant so much fun." A third added: "Oh wow fantastic! Brilliant memories for the wee girls." A fourth suggested keeping it up: "I don't think you should take it down, why not keep it up after all the work and effort you all put in to it."
