Mum Baffled by 'Too Northern' Delivery Driver's Accent Five Times
Mum Baffled by 'Too Northern' Delivery Driver's Accent

Jen Stead, 45, from Southport, was left baffled when a delivery driver asked her where to leave a parcel, but she couldn't understand his strong Northern accent. The Ring doorbell footage, viewed nearly one million times on TikTok, shows her asking him to repeat the question five times before giving up.

The incident occurred as Jen was walking into her home. The driver, trying to deliver a packaged gazebo, repeatedly asked where she wanted it placed. Jen initially struggled to hear him, then was thrown by his pronunciation. She eventually said, 'I don't know what you're saying, sorry.'

Jen told the Liverpool Echo: 'At first I couldn't really hear him but then when he started the sentence with 'ouse' it completely threw me. I felt quite embarrassed at the end because the poor guy was trying to say something and it was going completely over my head.'

Social Media Reactions Divided

The video sparked debate on TikTok. One user commented: 'That was a bit rude. Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning! It's a house btw.' Another said: 'He was so done with his job that day.' A third joked: 'Ausorgaridge - Is that in Germany?'

However, some defended the driver. One wrote: 'How would you like to repeat yourself five times? His reaction was valid.' Another added: 'He did ask five times to be fair to him.'

Mum Sees the Funny Side

Jen doesn't blame the courier for his 'grumpy' reaction. She and her husband Chris Stead, 48, couldn't stop laughing when they watched the footage. Jen said: 'When we watched it we were in hysterics and it's gone crazy since we posted it online.'

She added: 'Obviously it's the way he speaks in too much of a Northern accent but he probably lives down the road so it's crazy that I didn't understand him.' The driver eventually placed the parcels in the garage and told her not to worry when she apologised.

The logistics company has been contacted for comment.
