Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to make its debut at London Fashion Week this September, showcasing a 'see now, buy now' collection of womenswear and menswear that will be immediately available for purchase online and in flagship stores across the UK. The move marks a significant milestone as the retailer celebrates its centenary in the fashion industry.
First Runway Appearance
This will be M&S's first-ever runway show at London Fashion Week, a strategic step in its ongoing style revival. The collection will be shoppable right after the show, allowing customers to buy items instantly. M&S chief executive Stuart Machin said: 'This is a special moment; for 100 years M&S fashion has been part of everyday life and now we will showcase our designs on fashion's global stage. At M&S we focus on designing clothes with style, quality and value, and making fashion accessible to all. That's why we will stream our show, bringing one of the world's leading fashion weeks and the magic of M&S to everybody.'
Recent Fashion Initiatives
The announcement follows M&S's recent fashion show at the Silverstone British Grand Prix, where the pit lane was transformed into a catwalk. The retailer has been investing heavily in its fashion, home, and beauty divisions, aiming to double its online sales. This strategy has already improved perceptions of the brand's style and quality among customers, increasing its market share in womenswear.
Expansion Plans
M&S is also taking over a warehouse from Asos, which is expected to become one of its largest distribution centres when it opens in 2027. This infrastructure investment supports the company's ambition to enhance its online presence and delivery capabilities.
