Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, the widow of Dr Michael Mosley, has spoken emotionally about her husband two years after his death on the Greek island of Symi. The popular author and presenter died at age 67 on June 5, 2024, after going missing during a walk. His body was found four days later on rocky ground near Agia Marina Beach, just metres from safety.
In an interview with The Times, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley admitted she had a sense that her husband, known for pushing boundaries, would meet an untimely end. Comparing him to the Greek myth of Icarus, she said: 'Michael was an exceptional person, but I always kind of knew, somewhere, that he was going to… something was going to… He pushed the boundaries, he was curious, he would go as far as he could and that made him who he was.'
An inquest and autopsy ruled his cause of death as indeterminate, with foul play excluded. Coroners suggested the most likely causes were an unidentified medical event or accidental heatstroke from the high temperatures.
Dr Bailey Mosley and her sons have continued Michael's legacy, particularly through the Fast800 programme, which he pioneered. To mark the second anniversary of his death, she and her son Jack gave away 3,000 Fast800 memberships to members of the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation. The programme is recognised for helping people with Type 2 diabetes.
