The 27-year-old Love Island star has been open about the postpartum depression she faced after her daughter Bambi was born in January 2023, and says making time for herself has transformed her second experience. Molly-Mae welcomed her son Midas with boxer Tommy Fury, also 27, last month; the couple announced the birth on June 3, completing their family of four.
Their announcement came with an Instagram photo of Molly, Tommy and Bambi looking at the new arrival, captioned: "...And then there were 4."
A difficult first postpartum
In a previous YouTube vlog, Molly-Mae recalled: "A lot of you will know that postpartum with Bambi I truly did struggle so much. I think looking back that I probably did have postpartum depression to some extent, definitely for the first three months to six months."
She was 23 at the time, and during her pregnancy with Midas she regularly spoke about her fears of feeling the same way again.
'Pour into my own cup'
Now, however, she has reassured fans that this time is different. In a TikTok video, she said: "I've had so many questions asking me why I seem so different this time postpartum and what I'm doing differently."
She explained: "Finding little pockets of time to pour into my own cup. It's something that I massively didn't do first time postpartum like I was lucky if I found time to brush my teeth or that was an achievement if I managed to do that or get out of my pyjamas and this is so incredibly normal."
She added: "Finding someone to help for an hour just so you can go and get your nails done or you can go and get your roots touched up."
"First time round postpartum, I just used that time to sleep but I made a promise to myself this time that I was going to really try and just not lose myself. Pour into my own cup when I can and I really do feel like that has made a difference."
Fans react
Her honesty about motherhood struggles has drawn praise from fans. One wrote: "My second child healed so many postpartum wounds from my first that I didn't even know were there. I can tell it's the same for you. You're an amazing mummy!"
Another agreed: "So important to have me time as a mum, love this content."
A third added: "I love that you said this because it really does make a difference. Even if you don't have much help. Try 1. Wearing a nice lounge set instead of pyjamas. 2. Wear nice lip balms/lip tints. 3. Prioritise skin and body care." The fan also suggested: "If you can't go out and get it done, try maybe straightening it or putting it in a nice slick back bun. When you look good, you feel good."
