Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has disclosed the charmingly simple tactic that ignited her romance with billionaire tech mogul Evan Spiegel. The couple's love story began not with a grand gesture, but with a carefully crafted follow-up text.
The Louis Vuitton Meeting and the Song That Started It All
The pair were first introduced in 2014 at an exclusive Louis Vuitton dinner in Los Angeles, where they were seated together. During the evening, Kerr, then 42 and a former Victoria's Secret Angel, mentioned to the Snapchat founder that her favourite piece of music was Spiegel im Spiegel by composer Arvo Pärt. They exchanged contact details, but for a full month afterwards, Spiegel, now 35, made no move to call or message.
According to a resurfaced interview, Kerr decided to take matters into her own hands. She sent the businessman a seemingly casual text that read: 'Just wondering – did you ever listen to that song, Spiegel im Spiegel?' This clever icebreaker successfully re-opened the lines of communication. Spiegel later admitted to the Wall Street Journal that his initial hesitation was due to him believing he would 'never have a chance' with the famed beauty.
Building a Family and Fulfilling Dreams
At the time of their meeting, Miranda was navigating life after her 2013 separation from actor Orlando Bloom, her husband of three years. Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald after their romance went public, Kerr explained that she and Spiegel, who married in 2017, became 'good friends' before their relationship turned romantic. The couple now share three sons: Hart, seven, Myles, six, and Pierre, 19 months.
Recently, Miranda surprised fans by stepping in as a guest weather presenter on Los Angeles' Good Day LA. Meteorologist Maria Quiban introduced her via a breaking news alert, explaining they were fulfilling Kerr's long-held dream. The model announced herself with a cheerful 'Miranda Kerr, from Down Under. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie,' before expertly delivering the forecast, advising viewers to 'get your jumper, as we say in Australia.'
Harmonious Co-Parenting and Modern Family Life
Kerr's life remains closely connected to her past, as she happily co-parents her 14-year-old son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom. In a September interview on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, she broke her silence on Bloom's split from singer Katy Perry, confirming it was amicable. 'Yes, and I actually just saw them both on the weekend. We were celebrating [their daughter] Daisy's birthday,' Miranda revealed.
She emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive relationship after a split, especially when children are involved. 'We're one big, happy family. Katy is amazing, I love her. And Orlando obviously,' she continued, adding, 'If you do have animosity, it only hurts yourself.' Miranda and Orlando were engaged and married in 2010, welcoming Flynn in January 2011 before announcing their separation in October 2013.
