Michelle Keegan has been seen for the first time in her gripping new ITV drama, which she was filming when it was revealed she will soon return to Netflix. The Stockport-born actress stars as DI Emma Crane in the upcoming ITV crime drama The Blame. Her character investigates the death of a teenage figure skater, alongside Douglas Booth as DI Tom Radley.
About The Blame
According to ITV, the series is set to air this autumn. The Blame is described as a gripping new series that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Produced by Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios), the drama is written, developed for television, and executive produced by Megan Gallagher (All Her Fault, Wolf). The story delves into secrets, suspicion, and systemic corruption beneath the surface of the seemingly quiet town of Wakestead.
The six-part series centers on DI Emma Crane and DI Tom Radley as they investigate a tragic murder in the fictional town. They quickly identify their main suspect, but as the case progresses, an unexpected lead emerges. As Emma and Tom dig deeper, they uncover a web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise, forcing Emma to question the people closest to her.
ITV added, as it released a first-look trailer on Friday (June 12): "Part propulsive mystery, part social commentary, part love story, The Blame will tackle big questions around policing and will take an unflinching look at who we can really trust. Make sure to tune in."
Netflix Return
The Blame marks Michelle's return to ITV before she features in her second Harlan Coben series for Netflix. Last month, it was announced she would lead the cast of the best-selling author's next offering for the streaming giant. This follows her praised role in Fool Me Once, an adaptation of Coben's book, back in 2024.
At the end of last month, Michelle was named as one of the first cast members, alongside Tom Bateman. Netflix announced: "Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman for his latest Netflix adaptation, THE WOODS." The new eight-episode limited series adapts Harlan Coben's 2007 novel. The synopsis reads: "20 years ago, Paul Copeland’s sister Camille vanished from a summer camp in the woods, a loss that tore his family apart. When a murder victim is revealed to have disappeared along with Paul’s sister, Paul’s hope rises... could his sister still be alive?"
