Michelle Heaton, the 42-year-old Liberty X star, is enjoying her first sober holiday abroad with her husband Hugh Hanley and their two children in Mexico. The singer has been sharing sun-soaked snaps on Instagram, warning fans to mute her feed if they did not want to see 'fun happy photos'.
Heaton, who has been open about her battle with alcohol and drug addiction, marked the milestone with a series of bikini-clad posts. In one caption, she wrote: 'I'm not gonna lie .. a few moments I've had a lump in my throat and swallowed it away, knowing I am who I am and I can't drink. Last night no more lumps, this sober girl can be all kinds of fun .. even on virgin cocktails I can successfully embarrass my kids.'
The star also highlighted other firsts, including wearing swimwear after breast surgery. She credited plastic surgery company @sculpt_mybody for her results, saying: 'I may not have been able to travel this far if it weren't for you're swift and stress free process.'
Heaton's holiday comes nearly a year after she entered The Priory treatment centre following an intervention by celebrity friends, including Katie Price. She had struggled with addiction to alcohol and cocaine for three years, which she described as a 'suicide mission'. In a previous interview, she said: 'I texted Katie while I was in The Priory, “You saved my life”. Because The Priory did save my life.'
Fans have flooded her posts with compliments, praising her healthy appearance and positive attitude during the family trip.
