Geri Horner was serenaded by Hollywood legend Meryl Streep on her 54th birthday. On Thursday, the Spice Girls star celebrated her 54th birthday, and it's fair to say the Bag It Up hitmaker celebrated in style.
Meryl Streep Sings Happy Birthday to Geri
Ginger Spice has joined the cast of Only Murders In The Building for its sixth season, which is set in London. The singer shared a video of her co-star giving her a hug and singing her own rendition of Happy Birthday, before she gave Horner a kiss on the cheek and joked that she was just 17-years-old.
Captioning her post on Instagram, Geri said: "The best birthday present ever. Spending my birthday with the extraordinary Meryl Streep was a moment I'll always treasure. Thank you, @onlymurdershulu, for making it so special."
Fans Notice Geri Wearing Black
The comment section of her upload was flooded with celebratory messages. Emma Bunton penned: "Beautiful," while Melanie Chisholm added: "Iconic!!" However, several fans noticed that Geri, who now only wears white – was wearing black.
"Geri are you wearing black? Happy birthday!" gushed one. Another typed: "Geri? Wearing black? That's a surprise. Happy birthday my Queen." "Is she dressed in black?" asked a third. However, there's a very good reason Geri is dressed in black – she's simply in character.
"Only Murders In The Building making you wear black on your birthday is iconic," a fan quipped.

The singer's husband, Christian Horner, to whom she has been married for more than a decade, shared a sweet selfie with her as he joined the well-wishers.
"Happy Birthday @GeriHalliwellHorner. Have an amazing day and another lap around the sun," the former racing driver wrote. "We all love you very much x."
Meanwhile, Emma Bunton uploaded two snaps of herself and Geri on her own Instagram, writing: "Happy birthday to my Spice sister, my friend @gerihalliwellhorner! Love and hugs, always."
Melanie C posted five pictures of herself and Geri over the years, alongside the caption: "Happy Birthday to the one and only Ginger Spice! We love you @gerihalliwellhorner can't wait to see you and celebrate soon."
Melanie Brown MBE celebrated with three pictures of herself and Geri, the most recent picture taken from the Spice Girls 2019 reunion tour, which she captioned: "Happy Birthday to my SPICE SISTER @gerihalliwellhorner."
And Victoria Beckham took to her Instagram Stories, rather than her grid, to share a throwback snap with Geri in front of an aircraft, writing: "Happy birthday @gerihalliwellhorner I love you," alongside a red heart emoji.
Why Geri Usually Wears White
Geri's decision to post the snaps of herself wearing black clothing may have been based on her character, but fans are normally used to seeing her in white. She has explained why she turned her back on her wild ways in favour of a more sophisticated image, and how she took unexpected inspiration from Apple boss Steve Jobs.
Speaking to fellow singer Jessie Ware and her mum, Lennie, on the Table Manners podcast, she explained she sees white as her "uniform" and that it saves her a considerable amount of time when it came to getting ready each day.
"I went through a period when I was in my 20s, wearing black all the time," she said: "But I've gone through different theories. I looked at a lot of guys, and they always wear the same thing."
"Whether it's Steve Jobs, Facebook guy, you know, they all wear the same thing, like a uniform. I thought, 'Well, actually, how much time do you use getting ready?' That was one thing, and everything matches. It keeps things simple."
