Actor Samuel Monroe Jr has died at the age of 52 after a battle with severe meningitis and MRSA pneumonia. The US actor had been on life support for months and died in hospital on Wednesday, August 26.
Career and notable roles
Monroe is best known for his role in the 1993 crime drama film Menace II Society, which starred Samuel L. Jackson, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tyrin Turner. He also appeared in the movies Tales from the Hood (1995), Set It Off (1996) and The Players Club (1998).
Family announcement
His mother, Joyce Patton, announced his death on Thursday, August 27, in a post on Facebook. She wrote: "I want to thank all of my Facebook family and friends new and old for praying for Samuel Monroe, Jr., my son. But today God called him home. Please honor my final request to pray for the family, especially his 3 children."
