Steven Bartlett, the 33-year-old star of BBC's Dragons' Den, has announced his engagement to wellness expert Melanie Lopes. The couple, who first connected on Instagram in 2016, rekindled their relationship in 2022 after an early split and are now planning their future together.
Bartlett shared the news on Instagram on Sunday, posting a series of photos from the proposal in Morocco. He wrote in a caption: 'She said Yes. To say I was nervous is an understatement… I could feel my heart racing in my chest. She thought I was away in Europe - but I had snuck into Morocco on Christmas day where she was on holiday with her family.' He added that he had asked her parents for permission and built a hut due to a forecast thunderstorm.
The images show Bartlett down on one knee with a ring, Lopes with her hands clasped in shock, and the couple embracing after she accepted. Close-up photos highlight the large engagement ring. Lopes is also seen celebrating with her family, followed by a celebratory meal.
Bartlett, who hosts the Diary of a CEO podcast and is reportedly worth £320 million, previously revealed he had saved photos of rings Lopes liked over several years. He said: 'I've had this folder in my phone for like three or four years of the ones she said she liked.' The post attracted hundreds of thousands of likes and a flood of congratulations from fans.
