Melanie Lopes, the fiancée of multi-millionaire entrepreneur and Dragons' Den star Steven Bartlett, has given the public a first glimpse of her breathtaking engagement ring. The wellness influencer shared a photo of the oval-cut sparkler on her Instagram Stories, following an exclusive revelation that Bartlett proposed on Christmas Day in Morocco.
A Proposal Four Years in the Making
The 33-year-old podcast host admitted on Maggie Sellers Reum's 'Hot Smart Rich' podcast that the marriage proposal took him a staggering four years to plan. He explained that about four years ago, he began covertly noting his partner's preferences. "I was looking over her shoulder and looking at the ones she liked, and I was looking at her Pinterest, and saving the ones she said she really liked," Bartlett recounted.
He kept a dedicated folder on his phone for years, compiling images of rings Melanie adored. The final piece was crafted by a trusted jeweller in New York, whom Bartlett visited just before the proposal. The couple, who have been together for almost seven years, met on Instagram in 2016 but have largely kept their romance away from the public spotlight.
The Romantic Journey to 'Yes'
Their relationship has not been without its challenges. After dating for a year, the pair briefly separated as Steven focused on building his business empire, now valued at an estimated £320 million. Realising he could not live without her, Bartlett then embarked on a dramatic 22-hour flight to Bali, where Melanie runs a breathwork and yoga retreat, to win her back.
Since that grand gesture, their bond has strengthened. Steven speaks of his French-Portuguese yoga entrepreneur fiancée with profound admiration. "She knows me better than anybody, because she gets to see it all," he said. "In many respects, she's like everything that I'm not. She's like an angel that fell from the sky." He added that she is someone he aspires to be more like.
Looking Forward to a Shared Future
The festive proposal in Morocco marked the beginning of a new chapter. Sources close to the couple say that after living together in both London and Los Angeles while managing their demanding careers, they have never been happier and are excited to start planning their wedding.
Bartlett also shared a more personal reflection, revealing he once feared that professional success would lead to personal loneliness. "I used to fear that whilst I was successful, I would be lonely in a big house," he confessed. With his proposal accepted and a wedding on the horizon, that fear now seems firmly in the past.
