Mel C, the Spice Girls star known as Sporty Spice, issued a three-word message on Instagram after her wedding to Australian model Chris Dingwall over the weekend. The couple tied the knot in the Lake District on Saturday, July 18, with Mel C wearing a custom look designed by bandmate Victoria Beckham.
Wedding Details
Chris proposed while the pair were on holiday in Mallorca last July. Former bandmates Geri Horner, Mel B and Emma Bunton attended the big day, but Victoria Beckham was unable to be there as she is at the World Cup in the United States with her husband, David.
Mel C told British Vogue, which had exclusive access to the wedding, that although she did not see it coming or ever plan to have a big wedding, when he proposed she felt it was "right." The 52-year-old said: "I've had this awakening in my 50s – I'm very comfortable in my skin. I thought, you know what, this is a part of my story. When you're my age you're like… I actually want to experience all of the things." She added: "I was 49 when I met Chris and I was in a really good place. We had a date in Australia, and it's been difficult to separate us ever since."
Instagram Message
On Instagram, Mel C shared a video of the newlywed couple wearing a Nike T-shirt with a phrase that matched her caption: "Just did it," with her song Emotional Memory playing in the background. She received congratulations from celebrity friends such as Holly Willoughby and Louise Redknapp.
Relationship and Album
Mel C previously revealed that she and Chris get on well due to sharing 'similar personalities and lifestyles.' Their romance inspired her latest album, Sweat. She told The Telegraph: "Not long into making the record, I met somebody new, I fell in love, and so I ended up having this wonderful arc of emotions throughout the album – of heartbreak and then that excitement of a new relationship. He's very laid-back. He's loads of fun…we work out together. We have very similar personalities and lifestyles." She added: "Rather than separating work and life, I enjoy them both together, which has been a big shift. I think that really happened after I met my partner, Chris. He's able to travel with me a lot. He's a screenwriter so he can work from anywhere, and that usually means with me, which is good for me. It's so beautiful to be able to enjoy the life I have with the person I love."
