Meghan Markle has faced another setback as TV personality Martha Stewart made comments that have been interpreted as mocking the Duchess of Sussex. In an interview with People magazine, Stewart revealed she had dinner with Markle in California, noting the Duchess had just returned from the palace. Stewart also questioned Markle's transition from actress to princess to cooking show host, saying, "If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn't sort of follow."

Discussing Stewart's remarks on The Megyn Kelly Show, host Megyn Kelly said, "I think it's actually kind of cool that Martha Stewart, who's now in her eighties, just doesn't give an eff. She's like, I'm gonna cut this bitch, and I don't care if you don't like it." Kelly added that Stewart was "clearly mocking" Markle, particularly with the 'back from the palace' comment and the difficulty of jumping between roles.
Kelly further stated, "She was telegraphing to us all: It ain't as lazy as it looks, and she's failing. That's really what she was saying. That's my Martha Stewart decoder for you."

Guest Glenn Greenwald suggested Stewart does not hold Markle in high regard, saying, "I don't think she respects the fact that Meghan Markle is a worthy competitor. I love Martha Stewart because she is just so direct… I mean, she went to prison, and she came out and built this whole second career… Obviously, built a gigantic business too. She is not somebody to play around with, and that passive-aggressive criticism of Meghan Markle there was so enjoyable and so deserved."
Stewart's comments come as a blow to Markle, who celebrated her 45th birthday earlier this year, as she and Prince Harry continue to make their mark in Hollywood.
