Meghan Markle's Pre-Wedding Comment 'Caused Shudders at Palace'

Meghan Markle's eager remark in an interview while engaged to Prince Harry reportedly caused 'shudders at the Palace', according to royal author Tina Brown. Speaking at the Royal Foundation's first forum event in February 2018, Meghan expressed her desire to 'hit the ground running' with royal charities, a comment that jarred with the palace's slower pace.

In her new book 'The Palace Papers', Brown recalls that the comment unsettled palace insiders. She told The Telegraph: 'I think Meghan felt she could get in there and change it all. Frankly, she could have done a great deal to change things had she stuck around, but the thing that’s most baffling is such impatience.'

Meghan gave royal duty 20 months before stepping back with Harry in 2020. Brown noted: 'Diana gave it 16 years.' The couple now reside in the US, and Meghan is set to travel to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands this week, accompanied by a Netflix documentary crew.
