Meghan Markle once gave a blunt three-word response when asked whether she would return to her acting career. The Duchess of Sussex, best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the series Suits, said: “No. I’m done.”
Giving up acting for royal life
Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan was a successful actress on Suits, a role she gave up to join the royal family. In the couple’s engagement interview, she addressed the career change, saying: “I don't see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It's a new challenge.”
She continued: “It's a new chapter. Right. And also keep in mind I have been working on my show for seven years. So we're very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100 episode marker I thought you know what I have I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work I've done there and now it's time to, as you said, work as a team with you [Harry].”
Blunt response in Vanity Fair interview
After quitting life as a working royal and moving to America, Meghan hinted in an interview with Vanity Fair in October 2022 that she did not plan to return to acting. When asked directly, she gave the blunt reply: “No. I’m done.” She then added: “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
Rumoured comeback
Despite her earlier stance, rumours suggest a return to acting could now be on the cards. It is believed she may have been offered an acting job based in the UK, which could explain why the Sussex family are moving back from America. This rumoured acting return has not been confirmed by Meghan.
