Meghan Markle's Bizarre In-Flight Beauty Hack with Surgical Gloves

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed the unusual but inexpensive item she always packs when travelling: tumble dryer sheets. Meghan Markle, 37, recommends layering them between clothes such as shirts, skirts and dresses to keep them smelling fresh. She wrote on her now-deleted blog, The Tig: 'Your clothes will smell fresh when you arrive — and especially when you return home.'

Tumble dryer sheets, which cost as little as £1.80 for a pack of 40, are also used by cleaning sensation Sophie Hinchliffe (Mrs Hinch) inside cushion and pillow covers. Meghan also wipes blinds and other surfaces with them due to their anti-static properties.

Like model Naomi Campbell, who recently filmed herself wearing latex gloves and cleaning her seat area on a Qatar Airways flight, Meghan is conscious of plane hygiene. She previously advised: 'I’m no germophobe, but when I get on a plane I always use some quick hand wipes or a travel sanitiser spray to wipe it all down: that includes the little TV, the service tray, and all the buttons around your seat.'

Another of Meghan's top travel tips is to pack a 'portable hug' — an item that feels and smells like home. She said: 'Throw it in your purse or backpack, and no matter how far you travel, you will always feel comforted both on and off the plane.'
