Vogue editor Anna Wintour has shared her genuine thoughts on Meghan Markle, praising the Duchess of Sussex's wedding dress and defending her against criticism from royal household members. In a 2020 episode of Vogue's web series 'Go Ask Anna', Wintour described Meghan as 'amazing' and lauded her choice of a Givenchy gown designed by Clare Waight Keller for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Wintour expressed admiration for the dress, calling it 'sophisticated, chic, and grown-up'. She noted that the choice of an English designer working for a French house sent a message of belonging despite Meghan's American roots. The editor also addressed reports that some royal staff were confused by Meghan's habit of waking at 5am, saying: 'She’s a normal California girl who gets up early and does yoga and meditates.'
The comments come as Meghan prepares to launch her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, following a soft launch on Instagram. The brand, based in Montecito, is expected to sell lifestyle goods, though details remain unconfirmed.
