Meghan Markle Says First Meeting With Kate Was 'Jarring'

Meghan Markle has described her first encounter with Princess Catherine as 'jarring' in a new revelation. The sisters-in-law have not been seen together for years following the fallout between their husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William, who are reportedly not in contact.

Details of the First Meeting

Speaking in the second episode of the Harry & Meghan docuseries, Meghan recalled meeting Catherine for the first time at dinner. 'I remember I was in ripped jeans and barefoot. I was a hugger, I've always been a hugger, I didn't realise that that was jarring for a lot of Brits,' she said.

Meghan added: 'I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside, that there is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door, [sighs], I can relax now.'

Other Reports and Reactions

Omid Scobie, in his book, wrote that Princess Catherine 'wasn't a fan' of Meghan and 'can be cold if she doesn't like someone.' Reports say a source told the journalist, 'She spent more time talking about Meghan than talking to her.'

When Prince Harry and Meghan announced their engagement, Meghan paid tribute to Catherine, saying: 'Catherine has been absolutely amazing, as has William as well, you know, fantastic support.'

In his memoir, Prince Harry referenced an incident where Meghan asked to borrow lip-gloss from Catherine before the first Royal Foundation forum summit in 2018. He wrote that Catherine was surprised but offered it, and after Meghan applied it with her finger, Catherine made a 'disgusted' face.

Meghan and Princess Catherine have not been seen together in years.
