Meghan Markle has revealed that being a mother is her "superpower" and that her five-year-old daughter, Lilibet, gives her courage during moments of self-doubt. The Duchess of Sussex, 45, made the comments in a Q&A video with InStyle while promoting Cookie Queens, a new documentary from Archewell Productions.
Motherhood as a Superpower
Asked by a child what she believed her superpower to be, Meghan replied without hesitation: "Being a mum." She elaborated, saying, "I feel like we have superpowers because we juggle it all and enjoy it all with grace and grit at the same time."
The mother of two, who also shares seven-year-old son Archie with Prince Harry, explained how Lilibet inspires her bravery. When asked what makes her feel brave, Meghan said: "Every day, when I feel a little bit like, 'Oh gosh, can I do this?' I go: 'Lili would do it.'"
Family Time and New Projects
The Sussexes have reportedly enjoyed a summer of family time, taking Archie and Lilibet on a European holiday that included visits to Portugal and the Scottish Highlands, as well as a stop at Althorp to see Harry's uncle, Earl Spencer.
Meghan's interview comes as she promotes Cookie Queens, a coming-of-age documentary following four young Girl Scouts competing to become top cookie sellers. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was produced by Archewell Productions in partnership with Beautiful Stories and AJNA Films.
Lighthearted Moments and Advice
In the Q&A, Meghan also faced the lighter question of which Girl Scout cookie she would choose to be. Picking the traditional Trefoil, she joked: "Trefoil I think, it's classic! It's classic, it's sweet, it's all the same colour and I like tonal dressing! It's the worst answer ever haha."
The former Suits actress encouraged young girls to "follow their gut" and named her maths teacher, Miss Linda, as a childhood role model. She spoke warmly about the girls in Cookie Queens, noting, "These girls are so multi-dimensional and honest. Also just behind the scenes and getting to know them through this process, how they've all become close with each other and support each other. I think we're our own little troop!"
Previous Comments on the Documentary
At the Sundance premiere in January, Meghan described the film as both a nostalgic look at an American tradition and a story about modern girlhood. She said: "This film is probably the cutest at the festival but I'm also going to go out on a limb and say it is one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of something that is an American tradition and rooted in nostalgia."
She added that the youngsters featured were "fantastic and adorable" but also showed them as "layered beautiful girls who are about to become very strong leaders and young women."
Meghan and Harry established Archewell Productions in 2020 and have since worked on several projects for Netflix, including the Harry & Meghan documentary series, Heart of Invictus, and Polo. Meghan also launched her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan in 2025.
