Meghan Markle will never be a working royal again. It just won’t happen, and her latest moves show exactly why. Since quitting royal life in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been trying to pave their own way.
Career Moves Since Leaving Royal Life
Over the last six years, Meghan has made many career moves to fund her lavish lifestyle. This includes launching podcasts, doing interviews, having her own Netflix shows, and even launching her As Ever brand. Meghan has also entered the world of celebrity with her red carpet appearances, including one in Canada last week, and influencer-style posts. Her birthday is a great example of this.
Too Far Removed From Royal World
Unlike her husband Harry, who continues to focus heavily on charity work and engagements, Meghan has become too far removed from the royal world. Instead, she has stepped foot in the celebrity sphere, and now she is in that, becoming a working royal again is basically off the table.
While the royals are, somewhat, celebrities in their own way, they are fundamentally royals. We know and love them because they are members of the Royal Family. And they do not dip into this celebrity world, at least not for an income anyway.
Celebrity Ventures Block Royal Return
Meghan, on the other hand, does. She has a lifestyle brand that she makes money from. An Instagram account where she posts influencer-style pics. Makes TV appearances that very much portray her as a celebrity figure. She has essentially delved too deeply into the celebrity world that a comeback as a working royal would be a no-go.
The late Queen made it clear to Harry and Meghan that they couldn’t be half-in and half-out of royal life. In other words, they couldn’t represent the monarchy and also make money from other ventures such as these. And I’m sure King Charles will make it clear, if the day ever comes that they want to be working royals again, that they simply can’t now.
Meghan can’t be an influencer-style figure one minute and a working royal the next. And that could hinder Harry’s chances to represent his family again, too professionally. Meghan made her choice. She now needs to stick to it.
