Royal reaction to Harriet's media presence
According to a Palace source who spoke to the Daily Mail's Richard Eden, the Firm are "not remotely bothered" by Harriet's high-profile media presence. Instead, they reportedly think it is positive and well-received by the public.
The positive reception of the interview appears to have irritated fans of Meghan Markle, who has faced backlash for interviews she has given since marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
Fans compare treatment of Meghan and Harriet
Many of Meghan's interviews since marrying into the Royal Family were negative about royal life, the opposite of Harriet's Hello! interview. However, fans believe Harriet is being treated differently from the way Meghan was.
Harriet's interview was released while the monarch was on a royal tour, which no one seemed to mind. Meghan's fans think the Duchess would have been accused of overshadowing if she had done the same.
One fan of Meghan wrote on X: "Someone is going to have to explain to me very clearly why Harriet is allowed to do a massive photo shoot and spread for Hello magazine, 'introducing herself to the world', and that's not considered overshadowing a royal tour being conducted by the king. But Harry and Meghan stepping one foot outside their front door does."
Another said: "We all know if this was someone else, y'all would rake her over the coals and say it's narcissistic attention-seeking behaviour and accuse her of trying to upstage the King on his Caribbean tour."
Someone else wrote: "What hypocrisy. Yesterday, some people were calling Meghan a narcissist for doing that, and today, they're going to applaud Harriet for doing the exact same thing."
Harriet's comments on Princess Catherine
In her interview with Hello!, Peter Phillips' wife spoke about feeling "welcomed" by the Royal Family. She also praised Princess Catherine, a royal Meghan has previously spoken critically about.
Harriet revealed that she felt "comfortable" going to Princess Catherine for advice, describing her as "open-hearted". Harriet Phillips married into the Royal Family this year.
