Martin Kemp's Family Tribute Moves Fans to Tears Ahead of I'm A Celeb
Martin Kemp's emotional family video moves fans to tears

Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp has left fans emotional after sharing a deeply personal video reflecting on family life before his stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

A Moving Tribute to Family

Before heading into the Australian jungle, the 64-year-old musician and actor posted a poignant montage on Instagram featuring intimate home videos of his wife, Shirlie, and their two children. The clip, created for Samsung, explores themes of life, love, and loss, set to Kemp's own emotional voiceover.

The footage includes charming scenes from when his children were toddlers, showing a younger, dark-haired Martin playing with them in the garden. It also features cherished moments like the couple dancing at their wedding and Shirlie cuddling their newborn son, Roman.

Fans and Family React Emotionally

The advertisement resonated powerfully with viewers, with many admitting it moved them to tears. One fan commented, "Made me cry... Well done," while another described the words as "beautiful and amazing."

The tribute even touched his own family, with his daughter, Harley Moon Kemp, 36, leaving a heartfelt comment on the post, writing "Love this" alongside two heart emojis.

Life's Journey in Words and Film

In the video, Kemp thoughtfully narrates life's significant milestones. "Often the firsts feel like fireworks, lopsided footsteps on carpets, lemons that threaten to turn your face inside out," he says as a baby grimaces at the sour taste.

He continues, discussing childhood, first kisses, and marriage. "You get down on one knee... and the yes becomes an ‘I do’. With your something borrowed and your something blue and on the dance floor you hope that the music plays forever."

The film also touches on the pain of loss, with Kemp reflecting, "There are always too many goodbyes and often too soon. We place flowers that we never wanted to buy and lay them where love and memory meet," a sentiment that may also reference his friendship with the late George Michael.

Martin and Shirlie, a former Wham! backing singer, have been married since 1998. Their children, Harley and radio host Roman Kemp, 32, are now adults with successful careers. Martin will join the new series of I'm a Celebrity, which begins on ITV on Sunday 16 November.
