Martha Stewart has revealed that she suffered a broken toe during a New York Knicks game in May, after being stepped on by point guard Jalen Brunson. The 84-year-old lifestyle guru recounted the incident on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, warning viewers against wearing open-toe shoes while sitting courtside.
Stewart explained that Brunson crashed into her during the final minutes of the game against the Indiana Pacers, which went into overtime. 'He comes crashing down, sits on my lap, and I grabbed his arm, and his arm was like icy cold,' she said. 'He wasn't sweaty at all. He was cool as a cucumber.'
Despite the pain, Stewart said she knew her toe was broken immediately but could not leave because the game was still ongoing. She described the injury as a 'Brunson fracture' and noted that Brunson, who is 6'2', has 'big feet' and came down hard on her. The only exchange between them was Brunson saying, 'It's okay,' unaware that he had broken her toe.
Stewart retaliated by informing Brunson's parents, who found the situation amusing. As compensation, she received a signed basketball for her grandchild. Fans on social media praised her sense of humour, with one commenting, 'I love that she told his parents. Good adulting by getting a grown man in trouble for breaking your toe.'
Stewart, an avid Knicks fan, has previously attended games courtside with her grandson and is expected to continue supporting the team despite the injury.
