Mariah Carey Criticised for Demanding Assistants at Charity Gala

Mariah Carey has faced criticism for her demanding behaviour during a charity performance in New York, where she required multiple assistants to cater to her needs on stage. The singer, 43, performed at the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Concert in Central Park on Saturday, which was held to raise funds for victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Carey, who had recently fractured her shoulder in a fall, wore a matching sling with her evening gown. She later changed into a black outfit and then a feathered ensemble, each with a coordinated sling. At one point, she asked the audience, 'Is this working? Do we like it?'

The mother of two was accompanied by the New York Philharmonic orchestra, but it was her team of assistants who drew attention as they frequently adjusted her dress and held her water. Even the conductor was reportedly impressed by the orchestration of her support crew.

Critics have slammed Carey for her diva-like conduct, arguing that her behaviour was inappropriate for a charity event meant to support those affected by the devastating storm.
