Georgina Castle Marries in Cotswolds Ceremony

Georgina Castle, who currently stars as Sophie in the hit musical Mamma Mia! at London's Novello Theatre, has married in a ceremony in the Cotswolds. The 24-year-old actress, daughter of former UK tennis number one and TV presenter Andrew Castle, tied the knot in a picturesque setting.

Castle's journey to the stage began at age 11 when she saw Mamma Mia! with her father as a birthday treat. She recalled being inspired by a performer in a green top singing The Name Of The Game, thinking, 'I could be her.' That moment set her on a path away from tennis, a sport she tried but found frustrating, often arguing with her father over technique.

After serving as an understudy for the role of Sophie, Castle took over the lead part permanently. She described the excitement of receiving the news at her home in south-west London, where she had to hang out of a window to get phone reception. Her father rushed upstairs thinking she was hurt, but was thrilled when he learned the news, while her mother cried.

The wedding in the Cotswolds marks a new chapter for Castle, who has spoken about the challenges of stepping into the role at short notice, sometimes receiving a call at 4pm to perform that evening. Her younger sister Claudia, whom she says has more patience for tennis, was among the guests.
