Madonna turned 68 on August 16 and celebrated in style with friends and family in the Greek village Kouramades, Corfu. The village, known as the main filming location for the ITV series The Durrells, was overtaken by the celebrations as the party continued until 2am.

The singer shared snaps from the event on Instagram, showing a flowery Dolce & Gabbana dress with a matching headdress, a sit-down dinner, late-night dancing, shots, cocktails, and a large cake decorated with the evil eye. She captioned the post: "It’s My Birthday! Eat, Pray, Love, Drink, Dance, Break plates, Feed Cats!! Thank you G*D!"
Madonna reportedly booked out the local restaurant Atzaro and flew in an Italian children's choir to perform. The village's 180 residents had doubted she would come, but crowds gathered and chanted her name into the early hours.
Security and Crowd Reactions
A source told The Sun: "No one could believe Madonna was coming until she actually turned up. The security measures were pretty intense and there was a police presence, as well as Madonna's security to keep her safe." The source added that some plans were changed due to crowds: "She wanted to visit the central church but they cancelled it because there was quite a crowd gathering. They headed to Atzaro for dinner and that was really special. Singers and a children's choir from Italy performed as they ate traditional meals."
Family and Traditional Dancing
Images showed Madonna's children Lourdes and Rocco joining traditional Greek dancing just before midnight. The source said: "Just before midnight, the group started dancing to the Zorba The Greek song and a birthday cake came out. They sang the birthday song three times and then danced until 2am. Once they left, the crowds that had gathered outside started clapping and chanting her name."
Madonna's daughters Lourdes Leon, 29, Mercy James, 20, and twins Stella and Estere, 13, as well as son Rocco Ritchie, 26, were present. Her boyfriend Akeem Morris, 30, also appeared in the snaps.
