Love Island's Halle Brown's Dad is Premier League Legend

One of the newest faces on Love Island has a rather famous father that many football fans will recognise. ITV's popular dating reality show kicked off its 13th series earlier this month, with contestants entering the villa for a summer of romance and drama.

Audiences are already hooked on the latest developments, which include the introduction of bombshells—late entrants designed to shake things up. Among them is 23-year-old dancer Halle Brown from Cheshire, the daughter of Wes Brown and Leanne Wassell.

Who is Wes Brown?

Wes Brown is a former professional footballer who played as a defender, primarily as a centre-back but also filling in at right-back. Now aged 46, he retired from football in 2018. A Manchester native, Brown spent the bulk of his career with Manchester United, joining their youth ranks at age 12.

He was part of one of the club's most successful periods under Sir Alex Ferguson. Brown made 362 appearances for the Red Devils across 14 seasons, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two League Cups, two FA Community Shields, and the UEFA Champions League twice. He was part of the legendary team that secured the historic treble in 1999.

Club Career and International Caps

After leaving United in 2011, he played for Sunderland in the Premier League, then for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, and finished his career with Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League. Brown also earned 23 caps for England, scoring once, and was part of the 2002 World Cup squad.

He separated from Halle's mother Leanne in 2022, with whom he has two other daughters. Brown has two siblings who were also footballers.

Life After Football

Now retired, Brown remains involved with the Manchester United Foundation, runs football camps, and works as a pundit. He has spoken about Harry Kane's importance to England and discussed marking Lionel Messi. However, he has yet to comment publicly on his daughter's time in the Love Island villa.

Love Island airs Sunday to Monday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
